- A Zinc Oxide (ZnO) mineral sunscreen that's brown to light skin friendly? Take my money! ZnO sunscreens are very difficult to formulate without a white cast because ZnO itself is a very white paste. However, Axis-Y have really done a great job here. It takes some time to blend but the finish is really lovely especially if you want that matte look.
- ZnO absorbs excess oil so it's excellent at mattifying oily skin. Also ZnO sunscreens may be preferred over chemical based filters if you are sensitive to chemical filters. However, both mineral/physical/inorganic (ZnO, TiO2) and chemical/organic filters are perfectly safe to use.
- ZnO helps calm acne as it has strong anti-inflammatory properties. It's why some people find zinc supplements help with their acne, but I don't recommend long term supplementation as it can affect copper levels. Derms sometimes also recommend zinc gluconate creams for acne.
- Cyclohexasiloxane is a silicone that enhances hydration and gives the product a silky smooth, spreadable consistency so key ingredients can be delivered evenly to skin. It also acts as a nice base/primer for makeup
- Niacinamide brightens skin and helps control sebum
- Camellia sinensis is green tea which is soothing and anti-inflammatory
- Adenosine reduces the appearance of wrinkles
- Allantoin moisturizes, heals and soothes the skin
- Tocopherol is vitamin E which is an antioxidant and can help with hyperpigmentation
- Glycerin is a great humectant that hydrates the skin
- Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 is a peptide that has humectant benefits and may help with skin firmness
- Squalane is one of the best moisturizing and soothing ingredients in skincare. Squalane has hydrating, occlusive moisture locking, antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. It improves the look of fine lines
- Mugwort extract, candula extract, grape seed extract and chamomilla flower water has antioxidant and soothing properties
