- Adapalene is an FDA approved acne treatment. It is a medical grade OTC retinoid treatment

- Adapalene can cause dryness and sensitivity if overused. It is best to start off about 2-3 times a week, applying a thin layer on dry skin after cleansing at night. Using moisturizer after helps offset the compromising effects on the skin barrier. Make sure to wear sunscreen during the day as adapalene does increase sun sensitivity.

- Being a stronger retinoid, purging may occur during the first 4-6 weeks, since skin cell turnover is increased. Adapalene pushes out hidden acne, making it appear to the skin surface faster. Adapalene keeps pores clean. To limit purging, slowly easing in frequency is the best option.

- Avoid mixing Adapalene with other retinols or exfoliating acids. All can eventually be used beneficially in a careful skin care regime in which we can provide guidance to help you avoid disrupting your skin barrier.

- Avoid sensitive areas like the under eyes, lips and side of lips. Although it is not recommended to spot treat with Adapalene, you can treat localized problematic sections of the face

- Although the tube is small, it does go a long way since only a tiny amount is needed
